Gathering 9:30 for a 10:00 start.
Our day will begin by highlighting the importance and the multiple benefits of making your own compost. We will then dive into the science behind the composting process and look at the diversity of factors that influence its outcome. Examples of various composting methods will be displayed on site, offering a clear understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of each method. We will gather appropriate material and build a compost heap step by step.
Lunch. 13:00-14:00 For lunch: Please bring a dish to share.
The afternoon theme will be 'teaming with microbes' as we dive into the fascinating world of micro-organisms and learn how to work along side them. Preparing compost teas and building wormeries (vermicompost) are both on the menu!
As our day comes to a close, the space will be opened for a discussion on the potential composting has in transforming waste streams in our local areas!
Tea and snacks are included in the workshop.
Reasonable and appropriate outdoor clothing and shoes.
